Dear Morgantown Brides, please meet Joy Lager, one of the area's premier bridal makeup artists. You understand how important professional makeup is on your wedding day and you want to be confident you will look fabulous in person as well as in your wedding pictures so you need to find a high-quality makeup professional. With so many options out there how do you start sorting through the good ones from the bad ones? We sat down with Joy Lager a freelance makeup artist in the Morgantown/Pittsburgh/Uniontown area to give us an inside scoop.
How long have you been in business? Professionally since 2002, but I've been doing makeup for friends for as long as I can remember.

What types of services do you offer? Makeup lessons, formal and event makeup applications, and airbrush bridal makeup.
How far in advance should a bride book with you? You should book your makeup artist as soon as possible. I've read several reputable wedding magazines posting booking timelines and cringe when I see hair and makeup fall under the three month booking tab. That's crazy!! All of the good ones are gone by then, especially if its for a Saturday wedding during peak bridal season. Bookings start filling up about a year in advance for the most popular months (May, June, September, October) with Saturdays being booked out first. If you are considering a winter wedding or a Friday/Sunday ceremony, then you have a little more flexibility with booking, but at least 6 months advance.
Best piece of advice for a bride when it comes to her wedding makeup? GO PRO! Hire a makeup artist for your big day. Don't tackle it on your own. And don't let price be your only concern. Choose your MakeUp Artist wisely. Sometimes going with the friend who offers to do it for free isn't the best idea. Lastly, you want to look like yourself.. Just a polished version of you! You have to feel comfortable or else you won't feel confident.
